Reports to: Building Principal & Director of Special Education

Dates: July 7, 2026 - July 30, 2026

Hours: 8:30 am - 11:30 am, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 

Rate: $45 / hr 

 

Position Overview:

The responsibilities of this position will be performed under the direct supervision of the Building Principal and Director of Special Education. The Special Education/Resource Teacher will assume the case management duties as determined by the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.

 

Responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to:

IEPs

  • Coordinate IEP goals and objectives with ESY team members, based on IEP student needs
  • Coordinate planning meetings with related service specialists (OT, PT, and Speech/Language, etc.)
  • Assist Teaching Partners with the development and carryover of IEP goals in the classroom

Service Delivery

  • Implement IEP goals through remedial programs, classroom accommodations/modifications, and consultation with teachers and specialists, in small group instruction
  • Complete progress reports for summer progress
  • Maintain up-to-date progress data
  • Modify and/or make accommodations to lessons, projects, groupings, and tests to meet students’ learning needs
  • Employ a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to ensure student understanding
  • Plan and collaborate with other team members to meet student needs
  • Develop a Resource Room where students are able to receive services in a small distraction-reduced setting when it is determined that the classroom environment may be too stimulating for these individuals. Resource Room will also serve as a space for students to visit to complete practice independent activities
  • Coordinate schedules with teachers to service students in the classroom, consult regarding classroom strategies, and monitor progress of special education students in an integrated setting
  • Complete case manager logs to record activities (Medicaid/CompuClaim)
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop rapport with all members of the school community including parents, teachers, and administrators

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required
  • Valid Rhode Island Teacher Certificate required
  • National background check (after offer)
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
