Position Overview:
The responsibilities of this position will be performed under the direct supervision of the Building Principal and Director of Special Education. The Special Education/Resource Teacher will assume the case management duties as determined by the Building Principal and Director of Special Education.
Responsibilities/duties include, but are not limited to:
IEPs
- Coordinate IEP goals and objectives with ESY team members, based on IEP student needs
- Coordinate planning meetings with related service specialists (OT, PT, and Speech/Language, etc.)
- Assist Teaching Partners with the development and carryover of IEP goals in the classroom
Service Delivery
- Implement IEP goals through remedial programs, classroom accommodations/modifications, and consultation with teachers and specialists, in small group instruction
- Complete progress reports for summer progress
- Maintain up-to-date progress data
- Modify and/or make accommodations to lessons, projects, groupings, and tests to meet students’ learning needs
- Employ a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to ensure student understanding
- Plan and collaborate with other team members to meet student needs
- Develop a Resource Room where students are able to receive services in a small distraction-reduced setting when it is determined that the classroom environment may be too stimulating for these individuals. Resource Room will also serve as a space for students to visit to complete practice independent activities
- Coordinate schedules with teachers to service students in the classroom, consult regarding classroom strategies, and monitor progress of special education students in an integrated setting
- Complete case manager logs to record activities (Medicaid/CompuClaim)
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop rapport with all members of the school community including parents, teachers, and administrators

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university required
- Valid Rhode Island Teacher Certificate required
- National background check (after offer)
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
